Industrial production in the Republic of Srpska, according to the RS Chamber of Commerce, increased by 1.4% in the first nine months  of  2017. compared to the same period in 2016. In the manufacturing industry, production increased by 5.4%, while in the field of mining and stone production it decreased by 0.4%, while in the area of ​​Production and supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning, a decrease of 6.5% was recorded.

In the same period, the number of employees in industry increased by 4.2% in relation to the same period in 2016. In the field of mining and quarrying, employment increased by 3.7%, while the number of employees in the Manufacturing industry increased by 4.4%. The growth of the number of employees in the field of Production and supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning is 3.3%. In the city of Banja Luka, according to the Statistical Office of the Republic of Srpska, at the end of 2016, there were 13,208 employees in the industry, of which only in the area of ​​Mining and quarrying only 84, Manufacturing 12,073, while in the production and supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning were 1.051 employees.

The total volume of foreign exchange trade of the Republic of Srpska in the first nine months of 2017 amounted to KM 6.08 billion, which is by KM 806.07 million more or 15.3% compared to the same period of 2016. The total volume of goods exchange for the city of Banja Luka for the period January-September 2017 amounted to over 1.7 billion KM which, compared to the level of exchange in the same period of 2016, exceeded 1.6 billion KM more for 5.24% .

The realized exports to the Republic of Srpska in the first nine months of 2017, according to the data from the Chamber of Commerce of RS, were realized in the amount of KM 2.53 billion, which is by KM 446.32 million (21.4%) more than in the same period 2016. year. In the same period last year, imports amounted to KM 3.54 billion, which is by 359.75 million KM or 11.3% more than in 2016. In the Banja Luka area, the value of realized imports for the first nine months of 2017 amounted to over KM 1.3 billion, which represents 35.8% of the total import of the Republic of Srpska. The realized export in the territory of the City of Banja Luka amounted to over 447 million KM, which is 16.8% of the realized export at the level of the Republic.
